The piece
Natural Travertine · Ochre · Concealed LED
One round of travertine, two hundred and thirty millimetres across and forty-five deep. No frame, no visible fixing, no shade. The whole design is the stone, which is why the quarry does most of the work here: the ochre drift across the face, the open pits, the way the colour shifts from sand to bone depending on where the block was cut. Every disc is different and none of it is printed on.
The light source sits behind the stone, so what you see when it is on is the wall lit around the disc rather than a lamp shining back at you. Travertine at this thickness does not transmit light, it reflects it, so the effect is a soft ring of glow against plaster with the disc reading almost black against it. It is a quiet piece for a hallway, a stair wall, or above a bed.

Cut from solid natural travertine, not stone-effect resin or printed composite. Veining, pore structure and tone vary from disc to disc, and the open pits across the face are a characteristic of the material rather than a defect. The stone is sealed to resist marking.

A 230 mm disc sitting only 45 mm off the wall reads as a detail rather than a fixture. It suits a corridor where a projecting lamp would catch a shoulder, and it works in a run of three or four at even intervals.

Installation
- Hardwired wall installation. A licensed electrician is recommended.
- Fits a standard single gang wall box. Mounting hardware is included.
- The disc sits 45 mm off the wall. Keep the mounting surface flat, since a bowed wall will show as an uneven gap around the rim.
- In a corridor, centre the disc at roughly 150 cm from the floor. At a bedside, 120 to 130 cm suits someone sitting up.
- Travertine is heavy for its size. Fix into a stud or use a proper cavity anchor, not a plasterboard plug alone.
- Clean with a dry or barely damp cloth. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners, they will etch the surface.
- Indoor use only. Do not install in a bathroom zone exposed to direct water or steam.
- Do not disassemble the fixture. If issues arise, contact us.
FAQ
Will my disc look like the photos? +
Close, but not identical, and that is the point. Travertine is quarried stone. The ochre runs from warm sand through to bone depending on where in the block the disc was cut, and the pit pattern is different every time. If you are ordering a run of three or four for a corridor, order them together and we will pull them from the same batch so they sit closer in tone.
Where does the light actually go? +
Onto the wall, not at you. The source sits behind the stone, so you get a soft ring of light around the disc while the face itself stays dark. That makes it an atmosphere fixture. It will not light a room and it will not work as a reading light.
Does light shine through the stone? +
No. At 45 mm thick, travertine is opaque. Thin alabaster and onyx sconces glow from within, this one does not, and the effect is deliberately different: a lit wall with a dark disc sitting against it.
Does it come with a bulb? +
The light source is built in, so there is nothing to buy separately. We are confirming the exact specification with the maker and this page will be updated with the wattage and colour temperature.
Can I use it in a bathroom? +
Only well away from the shower or bath, and only where there is no direct steam contact. The fixture is rated for indoor dry locations. Travertine is porous, and prolonged humidity will mark an unsealed edge over time.
What if my disc arrives damaged? +
Contact us within 30 days of delivery with photos. Stone travels well but it is stone, so if a rim has chipped in transit we arrange a replacement or a full refund. You will not be asked to disassemble anything.
Care & delivery
Looking after it
Dust with a soft dry cloth. Stone, plated and painted finishes dislike solvents and abrasives, so keep both away from them; glass takes a lint-free cloth and a little glass cleaner. Solid brass is left unlacquered on most pieces and will warm and darken with handling, which is the material behaving as it should rather than a fault. Switch a fixture off and let it cool before cleaning it.
Who makes it
This piece is manufactured for Elio Marchetti by Radilum, our production partner for the collection.
We are a lighting house rather than a factory. We select the pieces, specify the finishes and the stone, and hold the relationship with the maker, and we would rather tell you that plainly than leave it unsaid. Questions about the manufacture of a specific fixture are welcome and we will answer them.
Delivery
Allow 28 to 43 business days from order to arrival, roughly six to nine weeks. Most of the collection is made to order, so that time covers the piece being built in the finish and size you chose, checked, packed and shipped. The same window applies wherever you are.
Shipping is free to Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia, with no minimum order.
Returns
You have ten days from receiving a piece to have it on its way back to us, under way inside those ten days rather than simply flagged with us on the tenth. Return postage on a change of mind is yours, there is no restocking fee, and the outcome is a refund to your original payment method rather than store credit. Made to order pieces return on the same terms as stock. Contact us before sending anything back.
Damaged or faulty on arrival
Separate from an ordinary return, and a longer window: twenty days from receipt to report it. Tell us before you send anything, keep the packaging until we have answered, and photographs of both the fault and the box help. Where a piece is faulty, damaged in transit or not what you ordered, we cover the return postage.
Installation
Any hardwired fixture should go in with a licensed electrician. Where a piece has particular requirements, a sloped ceiling, a chain that can be shortened, a specific socket, they are listed further up this page.
