The piece
Natural Travertine · Solid Walnut · Downward Wash
A disc of travertine, one hundred millimetres across and forty deep, set at the head of a slim walnut plank. That is the entire fixture. The stone is cut thick enough to read as stone rather than as a veneer over something cheaper, and the pitting across its face belongs to the quarry, not to a finish applied afterwards. No two drums come out of the block alike.
The light points down. It leaves the underside of the drum, washes the length of the walnut, and throws almost nothing at the ceiling. That makes it a companion piece rather than a room light. At a bedside it reads at book height without waking the person beside you, and in a hallway it marks the wall instead of flooding it.
Natural Stone · No Two Alike
The shade is cut from solid natural travertine, not stone-effect resin or printed composite. Veining, pore structure and tone vary from piece to piece, and the small open pits across the surface are a characteristic of the material rather than a defect. The stone is sealed to resist marking.

This is a small fixture by design. At 235 mm tall and 100 mm across it sits closer in scale to a picture light than to a bedside lamp, which is why it works in pairs either side of a bed, or repeated at intervals along a corridor.

Installation
- Hardwired wall installation. A licensed electrician is recommended.
- The fixture mounts vertically, drum at the top and plank hanging below. It is not designed to be inverted.
- Fits a standard single gang wall box. Mounting hardware is included.
- At a bedside, mount so the underside of the drum sits roughly 120 to 130 cm from the floor, which puts the wash at book height for someone sitting up.
- Do not overtighten the stone against the plate. Snug is enough, travertine is a soft stone.
- Clean with a dry or barely damp cloth. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners, they will etch the surface.
- Indoor use only. Do not install in a bathroom zone exposed to direct water or steam.
- Do not disassemble the fixture. If issues arise, contact us.
FAQ
Will my lamp look like the photos? +
Close, but not identical, and that is the point. Travertine is quarried stone. Colour runs from pale cream through to a warmer sand tone, and the pore pattern is different on every drum. If you are ordering a pair for either side of a bed, order them together and we will pull two shades from the same batch so they sit closer in tone.
How much light does it actually give? +
Less than you might expect, and deliberately so. The drum is 100 mm across and light leaves only the underside, so it produces a soft column down the wall rather than lighting a room. Treat it as an accent, or as a low bedside reader. If you need the room lit, pair it with something overhead.
Does it come with a bulb? +
The light source is built into the drum, so there is nothing to buy separately. We are confirming the exact specification with the maker and this page will be updated with the wattage and colour temperature.
Can I use it in a bathroom? +
Only well away from the shower or bath, and only where there is no direct steam contact. The fixture is rated for indoor dry locations. Travertine is porous, and prolonged humidity will mark an unsealed edge over time.
How do I clean the stone? +
A dry microfibre cloth for dust, and a barely damp cloth for anything stubborn. Do not use vinegar, citrus cleaners, bleach or anything abrasive. Travertine is a calcium carbonate stone and acidic cleaners will etch a dull patch into the surface that cannot be polished out.
What if my fixture arrives damaged? +
Contact us within 30 days of delivery with photos. Stone travels well but it is stone, so if an edge has chipped in transit we arrange a replacement or a full refund. You will not be asked to disassemble anything.
Care & delivery
Looking after it
Dust with a soft dry cloth. Stone, plated and painted finishes dislike solvents and abrasives, so keep both away from them; glass takes a lint-free cloth and a little glass cleaner. Solid brass is left unlacquered on most pieces and will warm and darken with handling, which is the material behaving as it should rather than a fault. Switch a fixture off and let it cool before cleaning it.
Who makes it
This piece is manufactured for Elio Marchetti by Radilum, our production partner for the collection.
We are a lighting house rather than a factory. We select the pieces, specify the finishes and the stone, and hold the relationship with the maker, and we would rather tell you that plainly than leave it unsaid. Questions about the manufacture of a specific fixture are welcome and we will answer them.
Delivery
Allow 28 to 43 business days from order to arrival, roughly six to nine weeks. Most of the collection is made to order, so that time covers the piece being built in the finish and size you chose, checked, packed and shipped. The same window applies wherever you are.
Shipping is free to Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia, with no minimum order.
Returns
You have ten days from receiving a piece to have it on its way back to us, under way inside those ten days rather than simply flagged with us on the tenth. Return postage on a change of mind is yours, there is no restocking fee, and the outcome is a refund to your original payment method rather than store credit. Made to order pieces return on the same terms as stock. Contact us before sending anything back.
Damaged or faulty on arrival
Separate from an ordinary return, and a longer window: twenty days from receipt to report it. Tell us before you send anything, keep the packaging until we have answered, and photographs of both the fault and the box help. Where a piece is faulty, damaged in transit or not what you ordered, we cover the return postage.
Installation
Any hardwired fixture should go in with a licensed electrician. Where a piece has particular requirements, a sloped ceiling, a chain that can be shortened, a specific socket, they are listed further up this page.
